Northern Michigan Guided Fishing Service

2011 is almost behind us and I thought I might take a moment to say Happy Holidays & Thank You to all on my contact list and that joined me on the river this year. The 2011 fishing season was a good one! Spring steelhead season gave us fair water conditions and good numbers of fish. After a great early trout season I spent two months in Alaska guiding this summer, and the fishing was great! A return to Michigan in late September brought a surprise with great numbers of king salmon, and the size was that of years past! 2011 was a great fall run of salmon and steelhead and still is fishing very well for steelhead.
Winter Fishing Special
It is at this time I would like to say thank you to all that joined me in the boat, called for a hot tip or advice, or just called because they saw the service on tv, the internet or in an article that featured Jon's Guide Service and wanted to say hello. I did get some personal fishing this summer in Alaska and with a few of my guide friends this fall and had a blast! I have always turned to the river and fly fishing to help take care of the troubles that this fast-paced world can bring, and allow me some time to again understand why I love this sport the way I do.
2012 is just around the corner and I am taking bookings, so if you are interested let’s get some dates on the books! I plan on guiding in Alaska for July-September. The months of March-April (spring steelhead,) May-June (trout & trophy smallmouth,) Sept & Oct (salmon & steelhead) are going to fill fast as these are my peak months in Michigan. I also will be hosting fishing again in Belize if you have interest in fishing the warm flats or want to learn how, feel free to contact me. If you have not been to my website, the address is www.jonsguideservice.com

If you still are having problems finding that special gift for the hard to shop for person, I do have Gift Certificates (guided fishing trips, casting instruction, tying classes, fly fishing instruction and schools, custom flies for the rivers and seasons in our area) and can mail or e-mail a gift certificate in a short period of time to be placed under the tree. I book guides all over the state, as well as my guide service in Northwest Michigan (Manistee, Muskegon, Pere Marquette, AuSable, Betsie, Platte, and Boardman rivers. Don’t forget the great smallmouth fishing on a fly in the Grand Traverse Bay and shoreline fishing on Lake Michigan.)
Have a great holiday season!
Thank you for the memories and the conversation over the year!
